Authors
John Dodd and Gail Helgason have
hiked, cycled, backpacked, canoed, climbed, cross-country skied
and kayaked in the Canadian Rockies for more than 25 years.
Both former outdoors columnists for the Edmonton Journal,
John and Gail are also the authors of Bicycle Alberta and
The Canadian Rockies Bicycling Guide. They have written
about the outdoors for a variety of publications, including Outside
Nature Canada and Bicycling.
Gail is also author of Fracture Patterns (Coteau Books),
a collection of literary short stories about urban dwellers seeking
wilderness adventure in the Canadian Rockies. Fracture Patterns
was short-listed for Best First Book Award 1995 by the Writers
Guild of Alberta, and short-listed for the City of Edmonton Book
prize 1995.
Gail and John are partners in Helgason
and Dodd Ltd., a professional writing and editorial consulting
fimr that provides speechwriting and publication services to a
variety of business and association. They live in Edmonton, Alberta.
