Angel glacier forms in a large bowl, or cirque, largely hidden
from our view. Very, very slowly, it flows like a river,
out of the cirque towards you. Some ice breaks over
the vertical cliffs, forming the angel's 40-meter thick wings.
The remainder plunges down a steep gully, forming the body
of the angel. The area directly beneath the glacier
is very dangerous. Like most of the glaciers of the World
this glacier is receding and one day could disappear altogether.
