Immersed in the rolling hills East of Edmonton, Elk Island National
Park is an oasis of conservation. Amidst stands of aspen, open
meadows and small lakes you can view North American Bison (once
almost extinct), wapiti, moose, deer, coyotes, a wide variety
of birds and the ever industrious beaver. The beaver has been
pivotal in the creation and beautification of Elk Island Park
as their damming efforts have created habitats and water supply
for many animals. This makes Elk Island a perfect spot for wildlife
lovers.
