Waterton National Park has
many distinctions. It borders Glacier National Park across the
American border, it is a Unessco World Heritage sight, and it
is part of the world's first "peace park".
What will you find in Waterton?
Well, Waterton Park is a fascinating blend of prairie
which very quickly turns into vast mountain terrain. You will
find stunning vistas of forests, lakes, Rocky Mountains, red rock
canyons and rolling foothills. Great hiking trails await the lucky
traveler who comes to Waterton.
Across the American border, in Montana is Glacier National Park,
which is the other half of the National Peace Park. There is also
a large National Park in British Columbia called Glacier National
Park! The Peace Park is a joint national park between Canada and
the United States. The American side of the park is entirely different
from the Canadian side with steep mountains, cliff views, drives
and alpine terrain. We recommend seeing both parks to experience
the full majesty and beauty of the region.
Waterton is a couple of hours from
Calgary in the southwestern corner of Alberta.
