Biking in Banff, Alberta

Take some advice.   Talk to the locals.  Bike rental places know the best trails and the advice that goes with a bike rental is free. BacTrax even has guided bike tours! Try BacTrax Bike Rentals 403-762-8177 (225 Bear Street), Mountain Magic Equipment 403-762-2591( 224 Bear Street), Adventures unlimited 403-762-4554 (211 Bear Street has children's bikes too). In Lake Louise contact Wilson Mountain Sports 403-522-3636, in the Samson Mall.

Some popular trails include the Spray River trail (13km. / 8 miles and great for families), Rundle Riverside Trail 14 kilometers ( 9 miles) is for itermediate bikers and those seeking thrills and sightseeing should take the challenging Moraine Lake Highline Trail which is 10k or 6 miles in length.

At Lake Louise families should take the Bow River Loop trails which are quite easy and scenic (7km/4 miles)

Please note. Horses have the right-of-way on shared trails. Bike only on designated trails and bring water/snacks both in and out with you. Some trails are off-limits to bikers so be aware!

**You don't need to rent the most expensive bikes unless you are a serious rider. Bike rental shops have different prices for different types of bikes. Get the bike and price that suits you best. You may want to bring helmet, gloves and water bottle from home with you?
