Ski and Snowboard Sunshine Village

Marmot Basin | Norquay | Sunshine Village | Lake Louise | X-Country
| Banff Area Ski Map

Only 20 minutes from Banff is Sunshine Village. This is the highest ski resort in Canada and consequently opens earlier and stays open longer than any other. Skiers come here in April and May to work on amazing tans. On the continental divide and at 10,000 feet you can't imagine the views until you arrive. You have 90 named runs to choose from in all categories. There are several treed runs, bowls for the beginner and powder laden faces for the very best skiers. You can even cross continental divide and the border into British Columbia on the same run! There are 4 high speed chair lifts, as well as the gondola which brings you up from the lower parking lot. Average snowfall is over 30 feet, which buries some trees! Vertical is 3,500 feet not including the ski-out to the lower parking area. This is the only resort in the Canadian Rockies with on-hill accommodations. This gives you first crack at the morning powder. After skiing relax in the 20 foot outdoor hot pool or unwind in front of a roaring fire at the Chimney Corner Lounge.
